Party Planning Tips: How About a Race Car Party?

If your child is fascinated by automobiles and other things with motors, you can take their birthday party to the next level with a race car themed party. Here are some great ideas for decorations, food, and race car games for kids. These tips are guaranteed to delight the speed racers that attend your child’s party.

Invitations

The first step in planning any party is deciding who to invite, and sending out invitations to build your guest list. Enlist your child’s help to cut and fold construction paper and cut out or draw car shapes on the card. Then use brass brads to attach paper wheels to the card. Be sure to include all the vitals of the party including when and where it will take place.

Decorations

Decorations for racing parties are often easy to make or acquire. Checkered flags make an obvious choice and can be bought cheaply at any party supply store. You can use ‘Hotwheels’ tracks and matchbox cars as centerpieces on the tables at your party. Naturally, streamers and balloons are a common choice for any party’s decoration profile.

Games

There are tons of racecar games for kids that will help liven up your party, including red light green light, mario kart, and allowing the children to design and create their own driver’s licenses. If you choose to have your party a specific venue, you might find a place that has racing arcade games and go-karts. This is sure to provide hours of entertainment for children over the age of eight or nine.

Food

While there are many foods commonly served at car races, such as hot dogs, pizza, and nachos, you can also make red, yellow, and green ‘stop light’ cookies. Alternatively, it is probably not too difficult to find race car shaped cookie cutters. Finally, a cake designed to look like a race track is sure to thrill your child.
